    Like many myths, this one at first appears true. Unfortunately, doing this can actually increase the air pressure inside the ducts. The result could be that the vent seams start leaking and spewing your cool or warm air in places where it shouldn\u2019t, wasting money rather than helping you save it. <\/span><\/p>\n

    1. It takes more energy to turn your unit on so you shouldn’t turn it off when you leave home<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Many people think that setting your thermostat to a high temperature when you’re not at home saves more energy than simply turning the unit completely off. The reality is that you save more energy — and money — when your air conditioner is completely off.
