A/C Designs on First Coast Living: 7 Tips for Hurricane Preparedness

A/C Designs on First Coast Living: Hurricane Preparedness | A/C Designs

Preparing for a hurricane can be a stressful time, but it’s important to stay safe and have an action plan in the event of a major storm. Earlier this week, Owner of A/C Designs, Ed Tennant, visited the set of First Coast Living to share insights on how to prepare your air conditioning unit before, during, and after a hurricane.

Follow these tips to keep your unit safe this hurricane season:

  1. Clear the area around your unit so strong winds don’t blow items or debris inside or against your unit including lawn tools
  2. If you choose to evacuate, turn your thermostat off and make sure the breaker to your A/C and heat is turned off. This is to protect your unit from electrical surges
  3. If you decide to stay home, you can leave your air conditioning on, but you should put a power surge protector on your unit or units. This must be done by an A/C company
